The dual decoiler serves to hold the coils and provides for controlled uncoiling of the strip from top of the coil as well as from below.
The decoiler can hold 2 coils. During de-coiling of a coil, another coil can already be loaded and opened. The second coil is brought into uncoiling position, by 180 degree turning of the decoiler stand. Since the coil has been opened already, the leading strip ends will the immediately inserted into the following combined pinch roll-levelling machine.
Supported in the decoiler stand are two nos. of mandrels. The mandrels are hydraulically expandable, and pneumatically actuated disk brakes, provided for each mandrel, serve to produce the necessary tension during uncoiling, and stop the coils immediately, when the de-coiling process is interrupted. The mandrels are running on roller bearings. The expansion cylinders are incorporated in the mandrels. Coil guards are fitted after loading of the coil, in order to prevent it from falling part. |
